    Unit One

The third volume of the fantastic Danish crime series 'Unit One' (or Rejseholdet to quote its correct Danish title) which made a star of Mads in his home country, is now available for pre-order from the Australian dvd sellers EzyDVD.com.

This is the ONLY country to date that I am aware of that 'Unit One' is available to buy with English subtitles. EzyDVD distribute internationally and are very reasonably priced and efficient. I'm sure there are other Australian dvd internet retailers, so shop around, this just happens to be the one I use.

They also have a great 'Casino Royale' limited edtion dvd & poker chip gift set on sale at the moment. Certainly worth checking out.
Don't forget that these dvd's will of course be Region 4!

    The Results Are In!

Nine nominations and one win - Best Sound (?!?) whatever that really is, dont ask me how they judge but..*shrug* Still, Casino Royale was up against some quality film work and the fact that it was nominated at all, is just wonderful and a cause for celebration in my opinion! As one who always supported the choice of Daniel Craig as Bond, I feel great satisfaction in raising my bowman's fingers up at all those idiots I came across over the net - especially on IMDB boards!- who took pleasure in their unwarranted and ruthless scorning of our wonderful Daniel Craig as the Bond of choice - you showed 'em, Sunshine! :D

I suppose I also ought to mention that Eva Green did receive the Rising Star award, which is nice for her, although my choice would have been Cillian Murphy - but what do I know?

    BAFTA's Honour Casino Royale

    What an honour to bestow!
'Casino Royale' has been nominated for no less than 9, yes 9 BAFTAs this year!! And rightly so, in my insignificant opinion. Nomination catergories include 'Outstanding British Film Of The Year' and a 'Best Actor' nod for our Daniel Craig -Well done, lad!

Nothing for Mads, sadly but not unexpectedly to be honest - by that I refer only to the role of LeChiffre not Mads' performance, of course. But I am a bit miffed that 'After The Wedding' missed out- but then I would be, wouldnt I? Still it has its recognition this year at the Oscars so that's a night to look forward to. (The very best of luck to you Ms Bier!)

    Valhalla Rising At Long Last!

Just when I was under threat of becoming somewhat LeChiffre'd out - news of a most up lifting sort dropped into my MM alert box today! Confirmation that Valhalla Rising is to begin shooting in August. Yeahhh!!

I have been desperately ferreting around for news of this project for almost 2 years - since the first whiff of a rumour wafted on to the net that Mads may once again be swinging his big sword about! I know it's really shallow of me, especially with regards to such an exceptional thesp as Mads, but I just can't help being thrilled at the prospect of seeing Mads all long-haired, silver whiskered and marauding around lopping off heads and limbs once again! Warriors are my weakness I'm afraid, from whatever time in history, I'm not fussy!

Again, he will be in collaboration with the fabulous Nicolas Winding Refn (He of the 'Pusher Trilogy' - for those of you who may not know) and it will be in the English language too, I believe.

Filming will take place in both Scotland & the US and they are apparently wanting to cast Scottish actors for the supporting roles - I guess that means Tony Curran is a dead cert then!!

Here's the link for the full report if you're interested....

    Update On 'Exit'

I have confirmation this morning and the answers is 'Yes!' - the Danish release of 'Exit' most definately has English subtitles and Laserdisken have updated their dvd info on site now, too. So needless to say, I'm a few quid lighter and a very happy bunny indeed! *bouncey bouncey*

    Exit

For those of you who are interested, the Swedish thriller 'Exit' staring Mads of course & Stellan Skarsgard's good looking son Alexander, is now available for pre-order from Laserdisken (link on the left). It doesnt actually state that this release has English subtitles, so I have emailed my favourite Laserdisken employee(he's been an invaluble help where translation & navigation of the site has been needed!) to find out. He never keeps me waiting for long, so I'm sure I'll have my answer shortly and then I'll let you know.
So, fingers crossed for me then and hopefully another hole burn't into my pocket.....but he's sooo worth it!

I gotta start with something I suppose

I suppose I really ought to start Mads blogging seeings as no one else seems to be!
I read a 'review' on the Best Foreign Film Oscar nominations today where the writer, who confessed he hadnt actually even seen the fabulous 'After The Wedding' had only this to say about our wonderful Mads ...
'The only thing I can tell you about it is that it stars Mads Mikkelsen, that creepy-looking guy who looks as if his face is about to dribble off.'
I beg your pardon??? This is one of Denmark's most outstanding actors you're talking about and all you can say is that?
Need I add the author was a man?*sigh*
